I got FM when I was in a car crash at 19. So it is called Post-Trauma FM, I also have Myofascial Pain Syndrome, am Bi-Polar, have Borderline Personality disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and a chronic torn meniscus of the left knee. I HAD to work, but at 32, had a nervous breakdown which led me to a near fatal suicide attempt at 33. I am unable to work, have no health insurance and no money. I've applied for Medi-Cal (denied) and SSD (denied 2x). I was told that I was turned down due to my extensive work history. Yes, I worked, but had NO quality of life. I have been on EVERY drug imaginable. Now I take Morphine ER 30mg tid, Morphine IR 15mg bid, Flexeril 10mg tid, Codeine 3 as needed, Paxil 10mg 1 a day, Lithium 150 mg @ bedtime, Risperdel .25 mg @ bedtime, and .5mg of Klonipin bid. I go to Alliance for Community Care for my mental illness but they dispense meds, not therapy or assistance. My PCP says I'm disabled, as does the Dept. of Rehab. I need knee surgery NOW (I've needed it for over a year). I live in Santa Clara Co. does anyone have an idea where I can turn for help? I am on my ALJ appeal w/ an attorney, but that could take quite a while for an outcome, which may not even go my way. I don't know what to do.

The best option I know of is to contact your local Center for Independent Living (CIL). The should be able to provide you with info, advocacy and possibly other assistance. Actual services vary from CIL to CIL. Here is a link to help you find your local CIL.

    www.virtualcil.net/cils/

    Good luck.

For getting my SSD I had contacted Rob Andrews or Rick Santorum in Philly area and I had my disability in a few weeks.... I knew that there would be a problem (since I've heard the stories before), so I backed myself up. What area are you from? Whatever area it is, contact your local senators/congressman... that type of stuff.... give them your info and they will take care of that for you .... ;0)

Take care hon - hope this helps!
